Part Time, 10-15 hours per week

Remote/Hybrid Position

 

Brilliant Detroit Overview 
In 2015 Brilliant Detroit was created to provide a radically new approach to kindergarten readiness in neighborhoods. The idea was to create a unique delivery model in our approach to early childhood development by using underutilized housing stock to create early child and family centers in neighborhoods. Brilliant Detroit homes provide holistic services for kids 0-8 predicated on evidence-based programs around health, family support, and education. Brilliant Detroit was born to create kid success neighborhoods. Today, in each location, neighbors come together for fellowship, activities and learning to assure school readiness, and provide needed support for families

 

Job Summary
The Communications and Social Media Intern will help tell Brilliant Detroit’s story and mission by creating content for our social media platforms and assisting in the growth of our online presence and following. This position will serve in the Administrative Department and report to the Social Media and Brand Ambassador. This work will be done in accordance with the core principles of our Detroit-based non-profit team:

Brilliant Detroit offers opportunities for people to connect and build community as neighbors regardless of the zip code in which they live.

Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing Brilliant Detroit’s social media presence. This includes answering messages, scheduling posts, among other responsibilities.
  • Create original graphics for newsletters and social media
  • Develop communications strategies for social media and define how content differs from platform to platform
  • Create social media guides for Brilliant Detroit staff. 
  • Support the recruitment of new participants and volunteers via social media
  • Help grow Brilliant Detroit’s social media following on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and Facebook
  • Track engagement data and share monthly trends with manager 


 

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge and interest in marketing and social media
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrated superior customer service skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Attention to detail and strong critical and creative thinking skills
  • Strong, demonstrated technological proficiency with Google Drive, especially Google Sheets
  • Language: English required, Spanish desirable
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and social media analytics desired
